Bio

From Bignona, Casamance -
Sana Cissokho was born into a Mandinka traditional family of Dialys or griots where he learned to play kora with his parents: Lamine Cissokho and Ndeye Diongtang Diabaté. He grew up with the Mande people and therefore developed a love for his culture, African history & tradition.

His lineage carries a formidable reputation of renowned Kora masters: his uncle is the legendary Toumani Diabaté and his cousin the first female kora virtuoso from West Africa Sona Jobarteh.
Sana follow their footsteps by keeping the tradition alive preserving his rich cultural heritage and by providing to audiences from all over the world the soulful sound of the kora.

With a sophisticated repertoire, his stage performance captivates audiences from all over the world within his unique ability to continue to expand as he shares his wealthy tradition of West African Griot dynasties.
